After Hurricane Harvey tore through Texas, police were needed to help rescue those affected by the storm. When a daughter of a police officer heard this, she wrote the most heartwarming letter to him.
Sergeant Scott Holt, a police officer at Waco Police Department, was about to leave his house to rescue people from the floods caused by the storm when his young daughter gave him a heartwarming message.
The young girl seemed to know that her father was about to take on something risky.
“Dear Daddy, I hope you don’t get hurt, but I hope you help other people that need it more than you do. I hope no one gets hurt more. I hope everyone gets away the hurricane. I love you!” she wrote.
Her message was posted on the police department Facebook page with a short description from another police officer.
“I know this young lady personally,” Sergeant Patrick Swanton wrote. “And know that it took everything that her daddy could do to keep her from loading up with him to go.”
Speaking to CNN, Swanton said that the police officers of Waco were using their own time, money, and boats to rescue the residents in Houston, adding, “They’re doing it because they care about Houston,” and, “will stay as long as they can safely without being a hindrance.”
